SHORT HISTORY
One day, while taking a walk, we noticed an old homestead on sale at the edge of the village Laže, in the middle of unspoiled nature. We said to ourselves: “We’re in the saddle!” For a long time we had been trying to leave behind the stressful city environment and consumer style of life. We wanted to raise the awareness of our responsibility towards the planet as well as respect and kindness towards people and animals. We dreamed of a homestead on which we would be able to fuse tradition and modernity, standing with each foot in a different century.
Turning a dream into reality is always a challenge
And this was also true in our case. The dilapidating stone house was completely renovated, with a horseshoe, as well as two sides and a pole of the rack waggon being the only things that remained from the previous owners. According to the locals, the first owner of the homestead was a horse-cart driver. “Horses have always been part of this house,” we were pleased to learn. Horses have always been part of our dreams too. Currently, we have two. The homestead, formerly called P’rta Krajnih, was renamed in Apartments and accommodation Lojtrnik, Karst.
LIVING A PEACEFUL AND HAPPY LIFE
We produce fruit and vegetables, make delicious jams, bake our own bread and use fresh milk from our neighbours. We take care of domestic animals (having more of them each year), as well as take part in village work actions and social gatherings.
We are also networking with similar farms both in Slovenia and abroad, follow the latest trends in eco living, exchange our experiences as well as develop programmes of eco-conscious and healthy agritourism.
Much of our attention is devoted to children, as they will be the creators of tomorrow’s world. This makes it all the more important that they should be able to step away from their computers to feel the nature and the simple life of people who live off the landand whose hands and hearts are full of wisdom.
If you want to have a swim in the sea, you are just half an hour away. And after you come back, you can spend the night in a quiet and crispy cool setting. The coastal towns Koper, Izola and Piran have a unique charm.
A half-hour drive will take you to Ljubljana, and on the way you can also visit the Technical Museum Bistra, take a refreshing dip in the waters of Iški vintgar, and have a walk through the wild gorge of the Waterfalls in Pekel.
We will gladly show you paths that will take you to lesser known, hidden spots whose lack in size and allure is well made up for in their primal beauty and serenity.
When you need to take a break, you can relax in a deckchair or have a barbeque in the meadow under the shade of the old walnut trees in front of the apartments.

Apartments and living conditions
The apartment house is located at the edge of a village in a valley offering views of the Vremščica hill on one side and the Nanos Plateau on the other. In front of the entrance is a meadow with children’s playground, tables, benches and barbecue. Four apartments measuring 20–30 m2 are equipped with simple and attractive furnishings. Horseback riding
We acquaint children with the habits and characteristics of ponies and horses; we explain how they should be treated, what they like and what they don’t like. Children take part in horse cleaning, grooming and saddling. Then we take a short horseback ride across the valley….MORE
