Izola is an old fishing town and a municipality in southwestern Slovenia on the Adriatic coast of the Istrian peninsula. Its name originates from the Italian Isola, which means 'island'.

In addition to town of Izola, the municipality includes the villages of Baredi, Cetore (Italian: Settore), Dobrava, Jagodje (Italian: Valleggia), Korte (Italian: Corte), Malija (Italian: Malio), Nožed (Italian: Nosedo), and Šared (Italian: Saredo).
